The Return of Winter

On this date in 1993 Western North Carolina was hit by a winter storm that dumped two feet of snow on the mountains.  The storm was  blamed for a dozen deaths, caused more than $75 million in damage and left more than 100,000 customers without power.  Professor of Atmospheric Sciences Ed Brotak today's blast of  winter weather is  significantly different than the winter storm of March 12th, 1993.
