Guilford College Next Stop for UNCA Provost

July first, University of North Carolina Asheville Provost Jane Fernandes will assume her new duties as President of Guilford College.  Dr. Fernandes becomes the first deaf educator to be named President of an American College and the first woman to  lead the Quaker School in Greensboro.  Dr. Fernandes is a native of Worcester, Mass. and a graduate of Trinity College in Connecticut.  She earned her M.A. and Ph.D. in comparative literature  at the University of Iowa.  Dr. Fernandes has served as provost and vice chancellor for academic affairs at UNC Asheville since 2008.  She spoke with David Hurand.
