Asheville Water Dispute Could Last Years
It could be many months before the court battle over who controls the Asheville Water System is over. That's according to Asheville City Attorney Robbin Currin. Monday, Wake County Superior Court Judge Howard Manning struck down a 2013 law passed by the North Carolina General Assembly that transferred control of the water system to a regional authority and the Metropolitan Sewerage District.
The North Carolina Department of Justice responded by announcing it would appeal Judge Manning's decision. Currin says she is very pleased the city has won this round in what is likely to be a protracted legal fight.
