WCQS listeners have been buzzing about Wait, Wait…Don’t Tell Me! since we announced the show’s August 1 live performance in Thomas Wolfe Auditorium. The show sold out in just over a day and will once again bring national attention to our neck of the woods when it broadcasts over NPR stations on August 3. WCQS and The Orange Peel want you to be part of the excitement!

The End of Bele Chere: Festival Supervisor talks with Greta Johnsen

WCQS reporter, Greta Johnsen talks with festival supervisor, Sandra Travis, about the 35th and final Bele Chere.

This weekend marks the 35th—and final—Bele Chere festival in Asheville.

Sandra Travis, festival program supervisor for the city of Asheville, says it’s hard to picture, but downtown Asheville was essentially deserted when the city had its first Bele Chere in 1979. “It started out really small. It was a way to revitalize downtown Asheville,” she said.

WCQS Hosts Community Meeting in Brevard July 30th

WCQS is hosting a community meeting July 30th at 6:30 at the Transylvania County Library. President and CEO, Jody Evans, will take questions and comments and discuss plans for the station and its Brevard frequency.

Western North Carolina Public Radio, WCQS, will host a community meeting July 30th at 6:30 pm in the Transylvania County Library. WCQS President and CEO, Jody Evans, wants to hear from residents in Transylvania County about how the station is doing and how it can reflect the concerns and issues facing residents in Transylvania County. Evans will talk about what’s going on at the station and share news about WCQS’s radio signal in Brevard.

VIP tickets are $150 a piece and include some of the best seats in the house and a post performance reception, catered by the Corner Kitchen, with the cast and crew of Wait Wait... Don't Tell Me! Proceeds from VIP tickets benefit WCQS.
