Public school students are celebrating the Thanksgiving Holiday break. But for a tenured public school teacher the holiday marks the end of his teaching career in Asheville. Social Studies and language arts teacher, Chris Gable is leaving the area in hopes of resuming his teaching career in another state that offers better pay and benefits. David Hurand recently spoke with Gable in his classroom at Asheville Middle School shortly after his students were dismissed.
A Western North Carolinian has been awarded the state's highest civilian honor. The North Carolina Award for Fine Arts was presented to John Cram of Asheville at a banquet in Durham. David Hurand spoke with John Cram about the award.
